ASHLAND, Ky. (KT) – The Kentucky Baptist Foundation is supporting Great Commission work through a donation to Two Hearts Pregnancy Center, a pro-life ministry that serves women and families in three separate states.
French Harmon, CEO and president of KBF, said his board sets aside money to support other ministries and desires to support pro-life causes when possible.

This one hits close to home.
“I started thinking about ways to support a pregnancy center,” Harmon said. “I wanted to start in my hometown, a place where I grew up…This year the board entrusted me to make a decision on that, and the decision I made was to support this 25-year ministry that’s been doing excellent work for many, many years.”
Harmon grew up in Ashland, graduated from Paul Blazer High School several minutes down the road from Two Hearts and, as a former member, was ordained at Unity Baptist Church, one block from the pregnancy center.

“Going back home to help support a ministry is very fulfilling,” Harmon said.

“It’s always a blessing, first and foremost, just to be able to take care of these girls and offer our services for free,” said Sandy Bellomy, who has served as executive director at Two Hearts for 21 years. “Any amount donated to us, small or large, we put it all to the ministry to make Jesus tangible to people, so that way we can help provide the things that our clients need.”
Two Hearts serves between 250 and 300 clients each year, providing diapers, clothing, baby gear, parenting classes and other practical supports to mothers, fathers and children across Boyd, Carter, Greenup and Lawrence Counties in Kentucky and Lawrence County, Ohio—and even beyond.
“I think they have a great track record. They’re continuing, even today, working with women and children. And so, we think it’s a worthy organization,” Harmon said. “I got to see a plaque from Baptist Builders; they helped renovate that whole facility. And so, I feel like it’s got a history of Baptist work behind it, and we’re happy to continue with it.”

Bellomy said Two Hearts desires to be a place where women and families can come knowing they’re loved, cared for and respected.
“Our big thing is to educate the clients on how to be a better parent, how to just take care of, really, themselves and how to know their value in the Lord,” she said.
That work is made possible by over 100 church partners in the area, and Harmon wants to encourage other Kentucky churches and organizations to support their local pregnancy centers because saying you are pro-life is one thing, but helping as you can is another matter.

“Not just monetarily,” he noted. “Some could help in (a) volunteer capacity. Others could help with bringing items that may be needed. I was struck by the fact that Pampers and diapers are needed by these mothers.”
In addition to praying, donating financially and collecting material goods, Bellomy said churches and believers can always just stop by.
“Just find out what we’re doing. We always have a place for one more…We’ll put you to work here somewhere. You can plug in.”
